Call for Papers
The next SEAHA Conference on Heritage Science will be held in the University of Oxford’s School of Geography and the Environment between April 1st and 3rd 2019.
About the Event
The theme of this year’s conference is ‘Bridging the Gap’ and through this we aim to explore the transition of research into policy and practice; closing the gap between the academia and practitioner in the heritage sector.
In addition to podium and poster presentations, this event will feature four thematic workshop sessions based on
- built heritage management
- imaging and non-contact technology
- artificial intelligence
- the heritage of landscapes
each providing SEAHA working groups a platform to showcase their research through practical demonstrations and focused discussion.
We are inviting submissions that are accessible to a cross disciplinary audience and written from a fresh perspective. Submissions may fall into the following broad categories; however, we are also open to other innovative or alternative ideas.
Pioneering heritage science. Focusing on new developments in heritage science; we are keen to foster a collaborative dialogue between innovative researchers and their audience. Tell us how your work is pushing scientific practice forward.
Embracing new technology. We are eager to champion research which embraces innovative techniques and new technology. Our aim for this event is to provide a showcase for research that is truly pioneering in the areas of built heritage and collections management; digital and physical conservation, and material science
Stakeholder communication and engagement. We are especially interested in work that breaks down the barrier in between research and practice. Is your research industry facing? Do you involve practitioners, policy makers, or public groups? If so, take part in the discussion and show how this research can be transformed into practice with measurable impact.
Monitoring and conservation management. We will be accepting submissions which demonstrate particular innovation or improvement to approaches for the monitoring, analysis, and conservation of heritage; on all scales from individual artefacts, through collections to sites and landscapes.
How to get involved
We are now accepting abstract submissions of no more than 400 words for both poster presentations and podium talks.
Submissions should be submitted via form below by midnight GMT on Thursday 31st January 2019, and successful applicants will be informed by February 15th 2019.
